Today, show your favourite time of the year!⤴

from

Today’s TDC says:

Today, show your favorite time of the year! You can draw us a picture, share a photo you’ve taken, or even write us a poem about it.

No Googling though. This is DS106

I love all of the seasons, but the autumn colours are spectacular. Here’s a picture I took at Ross Priory at the weekend

3-30-300 rule⤴

from

During the month of August I will be participating in Blaugust, a month long blogging challenge.

Glasgow is called Dear Green Place, and looking around where I live in the suburbs you can see why. Today’s TDC says that:

3-30-300 is an urban forestry concept which states that every resident should be able to see at least 3 mature trees from their home, live in a neighbourhood with at least 30% tree canopy cover, and be within 300 metres of a high-quality green space. Make a version of this rule for an online community, or show us an example of it from where you live.

Here’s the view from my bedroom window this morning – so many trees – apple, plum, lilac, rowan. Yesterday I counted 14 sparrows sitting on a branch on one of them. Sitting here in my study on a drizzly day I everything looks green through the window and the berries on the rowans are gleaming.

If trees could talk⤴

from

I walk past this tree every day on the way to my office.

In the early morning the quad is quiet, with maybe a crow hopping across the grass or a cleaner scurrying about between the buildings.

Later in the day it is busier – students eating lunch on sunny days, academics sitting on benches chatting, tourists marveling in the architecture and taking photos of each other.

What sights has this tree seen? What happy memories do people hold of being in this place? Graduations, weddings, exams, meetings. School children on day trips, alumni back for nostalgic visits, those that work here – like me – wandering out to catch our breath and pause for a moment.
