Today’s TDC says

The History of Advertising Trust is an archive of 50 years of British adverts. Visit and revel in video and audio commercials, print advertising and ghost signs (no idea what these are, me neither, but they sound intriguing!).

Make some art based on what you find there – maybe a mashup image, a gif or a poem. Also see this Grauniad article if you’d like to know more.

As I often do, I searched on the key word ‘frog’ and got 31 results.

Haunting at the Willington Mill⤴

Today’s TDC says

The Strange Company blog describes a series of reports of ghost action in the early 1800s at an old mill.

Talking ghosts? Eerie. Lacking any recently reports create some art – generated imagery, drawing or write a story that describes what modern haunting is happening there (real ghosts don’t just post other images found in google).

I downloaded the image, drew a ghost and added it to make this gif:

13th September is Roald Dahl Day. Make some art to celebrate this day – maybe a gif from one of his films, or a poster made from a quote from one of his books.

I chose a quote from the MinPins

Centred Pentagonal Number Art⤴

During the month of August I will be participating in Blaugust, a month long blogging challenge.

Today’s TDC says:

 I love numbers, so today I learned that 106 is a centred pentagonal number! If you draw a star made of five equal branches, each branch made of zero or more blocks, and one block at the centre, then the number of blocks will be such a number.

  1. Find a photo (a bunch of tulips, opening and dropping their petals quickly in this heated room)
  2. Open it in Paint (it’s easy, and familiar)
  3. Spend ages deciding what words to use (in the end I Google “flower, quote”)
  4. Paste a few words onto the image and save
  5. Undo, paste the next few words, save with a new file name
  6. Repeat for the whole quote
  7. Head over to Giphy.com
  8. Upload all of the images and make a gif
  9. Save to PC
  10. Upload to WordPress and add to blog post.
  11. Publish

Today’s Daily Create  brought to mind a quote from Deleuze and Guattari’s A Thousand Plateaus:

It’s all about heterogeneity and rhizomes, of course – about working outside the lines, about not conforming to state control. It’s the essence of DS106 and CLMooc, for me. So here’s a gif for today:
