Tuesday 25th June by Grace Clark⤴

from @ Glowing Posts

This is just one post from St Benedict’s High School Malawi Visit June 2024. The posts are written by the pupils and give a great view of what is going on. The blog seems to be text only which doesn’t detract from it al all.

Not long afterward we all went to our first class, mine’s was maths. This class filled me with joy as we were learning about stuff that we learn back at home which for a short moment brought us all together and made me forget about the drastic differnce of our lifestyles. My second class was computing science where they where learning about all the keys on the keyboard which initially confused me as I thought it was common sense but then after deeper thought I felt a wave of sadness when I realised that the things that seem so normal to us are like aliens to some people since they aren’t as privileged as us and get access to all types of technology.

After the mass we went on a 1 hour minivan ride on the bumpiest; rockiest; most unstable road I have ever been driven through which had mine and Aidans head hitting the roof every 3 minutes, but it’s probably fine and won’t have any noticeable side effects later in life. This road led to a lake which had many animal inhabitants such as monkeys, hippos and gazelle. I found the monkeys to be the best to see as they were the most active and were in larger numbers in comparison to the other animals.

Community readers – The most magnificent thing⤴

from @ Glowing Posts

This blog was active until 2022. It is a great example of a project blog:

This blog records the fantastic reading work which takes place at Kirkhill Primary School and Dechmont Infant School. We love to read and encourage all our families to read and share books for enjoyment as much as possible. While our access to books and ability to share books has been limited over the last eighteen months we have found new ways to celebrate reading.

The blog consists of posts containing videos of different people from the school community reading different books. What a great idea.

Academy9’s Early Birds, inspiring the next David Attenborough?  ⤴

from @ Glowing Posts

As part of the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch, which takes place at the end of January each year, the Academy9 team headed to primary schools in Newtonmore, Kingussie, Pitlochry and Aberfeldy to work with P3s on the topic of the great wildlife on their doorsteps.

In the Early Birds session, pupils learned about the range of birds in the Highlands through three interactive tasks. Ecologists, Joanna & Amy introduced the pupils to a variety of local birds, from Robins to Capercaillies.

Academy9 is an exciting educational initiative from Transport Scotland, linked specifically to the A9 Dualling programme.

Academy9 has been developed in partnership with all the schools along the A9 corridor in addition to wider communities across Scotland, educational professionals, educational consultants and industry professionals.

Recognising the power of partnerships between industry and education, Academy9 is building a legacy of STEM-related skills and achievement through a series of progressive STEM activities and experiences, providing future generations with the opportunity to learn both hard and soft skills and consider STEM -related careers.

Body Smart⤴

from @ Glowing Posts

Being Body Smart is all about movement and 3D thinking. We use our body smarts in sports, dancing and acting.

Some of us move our bodies to think, having our best ideas when we’re on the go. Being Body Smart also incorporates building 3D models with blocks, Lego or junk modelling.

Body Smart – Fishie School Upper Stages

Part of the

Fetterangus P4-7 class blog!

Every student in the class is a contributor and will be adding a post or two during the year.

The idea for the blog was not only to have a go using technology but also to showcase work we’ve been doing on multiple intelligences.
