Christmas is coming, the [vegetarian] goose is getting fat
Please put a penny in the old man’s hat
If you haven’t got a penny, then a ha’penny will do
If you haven’t got a ha’penny, then God bless you!

Stir-Up Sunday is not till Nov 23rd this year, but it’s a dreich day and I’m off work with a cold so I thought it was time to get the Christmas pudding made this year. This is Mrs Beeton’s ‘rich’ pudding recipe. I omitted the milk and just used brandy and beer as liquid along with the eggs. It smells good already!

Stir Up Sunday⤴

Today is Stir-up Sunday, the day when families gather around stir their homemade Christmas pudding on the last Sunday before advent begins. I made mine yesterday, as it takes seven hours to steam and we take lunch over to my MiL on Sundays. It’s a Mrs Beeton recipe, and fingers crossed it tastes as good as it smells.

Thinking about charms to put into this for a DS106 pudding. Here’s what I’m adding.

  • A coin for creativity
  • A wishbone for inspiration
  • A thimble for remix
  • A ring for connectivity
  • An anchor for community
