Casual support worker hourly rate: £7.50

The Action Group is one of the largest providers of services for individuals with learning disabilities and other support needs throughout Lothians.
Opportunities are available for part-time and casual contracts, based in individual family homes/adults’ own tenancies; working in day centers etc. throughout East Lothian. The principal locations for these workers will include Musselburgh, North Berwick, Ormiston, Dunbar, Haddington, Port Seton and Prestonpans. (But in all parts of East Lothian as required). Applicants should be able to work flexible hours (early mornings; evenings and weekend working) and have good knowledge of the local area and its resources.
The role involves supporting children and adults of all ages, with many different support needs to live person centered and fulfilled lives.

As a support worker you will be required to provide many different supports to users, including full support with personal care; housework and accessing the community/taking part in many different activities.

You need to be creative, responsible and professional in all of our work with our users, families and other professionals.
No previous experience is necessary but applicants should be able to demonstrate a commitment to people with various support needs receiving the support they need to live the lives they want. You must also be caring, capable and committed to The Action Group’s values of choice and opportunity for all.

Casual Support Workers, £7.50 per hour

The Action Group is one of the largest providers of services for individuals with learning disabilities and other support needs throughout Lothians.
This particular role will involve travel around various Midlothian locations such as Penicuik, Loanhead, Dalkeith, Bonnyrigg, Gorebridge, etc. Own transport is an advantage but not a requirement for the role.
We are seeking Support Workers to work with several young adults in their late teens and early twenties who have support needs. You will work with a range of children and young people with a wide variety of needs and abilities including challenging behaviours and may also be required to assist with household tasks, provide personal care, and work in partnership with service user families. The role involves assisting service users to develop their skills by supervising and participating in various support activities in a way that enriches their opportunities and promotes choice. Typical tasks for support workers will include encouraging and supporting service users to build peer relationships, discover new interests and pursue hobbies that include engaging in social activities, attending music and drama classes, arts & crafts activities, swimming and outdoor pursuits; support workers are required to participate in all of these areas/ activities with the users.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of young people and their needs. They will also be great communicators, be able to problem solve, and be fully committed to The Action Group’s values of equality, inclusion and opportunity for all.
