We have been at Center Parcs near Penrith this weekend. This has been the first real opportunity I have had since Christmas to try out my new lens. My wonderful wife bought me a Sigma 120-400mm lens as a Christmas present. It really needs a fair amount of light to get decent results so I have been quite disappointed at my lack of opportunity since then to get out and use it.
This weekend has been different. Although the light has not been great I have managed to get some shots of the birds of prey at a falconry demonstration as well as squirrels, pheasants, etc which are fairly plentiful in the grounds.
I still need a fair amount of practice before I am confident with it but at least I have managed to get some shots that I am pleased with. Once we get home and I get the pictures on the big screen on the iMac I will be able to tell for sure. In the meantime you will see one or two shots that I transferred via the iPad to my Flickr account while we have been away.
